Patou Explores French Cinema with Star-Studded Short Film
Patou’s artistic director Guillaume Henry pays homage to French New Wave cinema in the brand’s first-ever short film, “Tell Me More.” The five-minute film, directed by Rhys Raiskin, stars Pauline Chalamet, Ruth Negga, Irène Jacob, and Lily Taïeb and was co-produced by Solab Films and Gummy Films.
Filmed in Paris ahead of the holidays, the film embodies Henry’s deep connection to cinema as a source of inspiration for his work in fashion. With wardrobe designed to blend archival Patou pieces with the Fall 2025 collection, “Tell Me More” teases the brand’s upcoming fashion show while showcasing the transformative power of clothing.
The Inspiration Behind “Tell Me More”
Henry describes his passion for fashion as stemming from his love of cinema. “I started loving fashion through cinema because it allows you to become someone else,” he explains. This cinematic project reflects his belief that clothing, much like film, connects people and tells a story.
Drawing inspiration from Agnès Varda’s “Cléo from 5 to 7,” Raiskin, Chalamet, and Henry sought to create a film that feels natural and authentic. Raiskin describes the film as “a cinematic experience where clothing seamlessly blends into the narrative, rather than becoming the sole focus.”
Wardrobe That Tells a Story
Costume designer Pauline Jacquard combined Patou’s previous seasons with the latest Fall 2025 collection to give the film a realistic and timeless aesthetic. A red jacket worn by Lily Taïeb and boots sported by Ruth Negga are among the standout pieces, emphasizing the wearability of the collection.
Pauline Chalamet: Actress, Producer, and Partner
Pauline Chalamet, who not only stars in the film but also co-produced it, describes the collaboration as deeply personal. “Our shared love for French cinema made this project a natural fit,” she says. As a co-founder of Gummy Films, Chalamet brought her expertise in both acting and production to the project.
A Fusion of Art, Fashion, and Friendship
The project highlights Patou’s historical ties to the arts, referencing past collaborations with icons like Joséphine Baker. “I’m grateful to combine three things I love: friends, film, and fashion,” Chalamet adds.
The trailer for “Tell Me More” will premiere on Patou’s social media and website this Friday, with the film releasing in three parts starting Monday.
