In Meheccu’d-Da‘awāt, the scholar Sayyid Ibn Ṭāwūs, quoting Abu Zahiriyah, narrates: “Whoever recites this specific invocation once a day for one full year will, before death, surely be shown his dwelling place in paradise.”
The Sacred Invocation
The prescribed prayer, known as a tasbih (glorification), reads as follows:
“Subhān ad-dā’im al-qā’im, subhān al-qā’im ad-dā’im, subhānallāh wa bi-hamdih, subhān al-malik al-quddūs, subhān rabb al-malā’ikah wa-r-rūh, subhān al-‘aliyy al-a‘lā, subhānahu wa ta‘ālā.”
Its meaning in English is:
“Glory be to the Eternal and Everlasting One. Glory be to the Everlasting, the Eternal. Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him. Glory be to the Holy, Sovereign King. Glory be to the Lord of the angels and the Spirit. Glory be to the Most High, the Exalted. Glory be to Him, exalted is He.”
