Which Dreams Come True? Best Times for Truthful Visions

DREAMS WISDOM / ISTANBUL, TURKEY — JAN. 4, 2026

According to Islamic scholars and dream interpreters, not every dream carries a message from the future or is worthy of interpretation. Dreams generally fall into four categories, and only one of them is considered a "true dream" (Sadiq Ru'ya).

Correctly identifying the source of a dream is vital for accurate interpretation. Physical ailments, daily stress, or subconscious reflections can nullify the spiritual value of a dream.

3 types of dreams not interpreted

Scholars state that dreams seen in the following three situations have no validity and should not be interpreted:

  1. Physical Factors: Dreams caused by high blood pressure, illness, or improper diet.

  2. Psychological Factors: Dreams seen under excessive stress, fear, or intense mental pressure.

  3. Subconscious Reflections: Dreams influenced by the day's activities or events.

What is a true dream?

The fourth type is called a "true dream." When a person clears their heart of worldly preoccupations and rests their soul, the dream they see may reflect reality. These types of dreams have the potential to carry a divine message or a sign regarding the future.

The power of a dream depends on its timing

The time a dream is seen also changes its impact and likelihood of truth. According to the experiences of scholars, the most effective times for dreams are:

  • Seasonal Impact: Dreams seen in the early months of the year are considered more effective than those seen towards the end.

  • Night and Morning: Dreams seen in the last third of the night and towards dawn (Seher time) are more truthful than those seen in the early hours of the evening.

  • Daytime Dreams: Dreams seen in the early hours of the day (mid-morning) are more reputable than those seen in the afternoon.

Furthermore, the piety of the dreamer is one of the most important factors increasing the closeness of the dream to reality.
